The Delanco Township Fire District No. 1 was created by a Township ordinance pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A: 14-70 et al. and governance is provided through a publicly elected five-member Board of Fire Commissioners. The Board of Fire Commissioners is responsible for the funding and operation of the Fire District within the guidelines and statutes of the State of New Jersey, which includes the responsibility of providing the resources necessary to provide firefighting services to the residents within its jurisdiction. In accordance with New Jersey State Law, each year the Board is responsible for submitting a budget to the State of New Jersey for review and approval. The Board, as public officials, must follow all the rules that are promulgated for public agencies.
